Thread Appeal — Subbrand Identity System for Ann & Ezra

Role: Concept Development • Brand Strategy • Visual Identity Design • Copywriting • Editorial Layout

This collaborative branding project centered on developing a luxury fashion brand, Ann & Ezra, which was created by my partner as the primary brand. As part of the system, we were each responsible for designing a connected subbrand.
I created the complete identity for Thread Appeal, including the concept, writing, color naming, logo development, typographic system, merchandise applications, and the full brand guidelines layout.

Thread Appeal explores 1970s punk culture, DIY fashion, and the visual language of rebellion. I developed a research-driven brand story and built a visual system inspired by stitched patches, crossed needles, and subcultural symbolism. I also named the color palette—Rebel Yellow and Glam Metal Black—to reinforce the brand’s anti-establishment tone and cultural roots.

The final Thread Appeal deliverables included:

  • Full brand narrative and strategic concept

  • Custom logo mark and emblem

  • Defined color palette (Rebel Yellow + Glam Metal Black)

  • Modified Futura-based typography system

  • Editorial-style brand guidelines with grids, spacing rules, and usage examples

  • Merchandise mockups for apparel, accessories, and promotional items

This project highlights my strengths in brand identity design, cultural research, copywriting, storytelling, and visual system thinking. It also demonstrates collaborative workflow, with my partner leading the Ann & Ezra primary brand while I developed Thread Appeal as a fully realized, conceptually aligned subbrand.
